Hey friends! Today’s post is about A Little Wordy, a two player word deduction game. If you enjoy word games but don’t have an endless vocabulary, this one is worth a look. It’s quick to learn, lighthearted, and all about clever guessing rather than knowing big fancy words. It’s a small box game that works great as a filler or a short challenge between two players, simple, fun, and a little sneaky.

A Little Wordy (2021)
How to Play
Setup Each player blindly draws a mix of vowel and consonant tiles. Using only those tiles, you secretly create a word and write it down. Once both players have their secret word, you swap tiles with your opponent. Now the guessing begins.
On your turn, you have two choices:
- You can try to guess your opponent’s secret word at any time. If you guess correctly, great! If you guess wrong, your turn ends and your opponent scores two berry points.
- Instead of guessing, you can draw a clue card. These cards ask questions about your opponent’s word, like how many vowels it has or whether it rhymes with another word. Your opponent must answer honestly, but they score points based on the clue’s value.
The goal is to figure out your opponent’s word while giving them as few points as possible. Once you guess their word, roles switch and they try to guess yours using the same system.
Winning After both words are guessed, players total their points. Whoever has the most points wins. In case of a tie, there’s a quick final challenge using the tiles to decide the winner.

Pros
Easy to learn and quick to explain.
Beautiful presentation, the box, artwork, tiles, and overall design are very charming.
No huge vocabulary needed, clever guessing matters more than fancy words.
Quick to play, making it a great filler or travel game for two!

Cons
The player boards and markers are low quality and wear out quickly, We ended up laminating the boards and using our own markers to make it more enjoyable.
Only for two players, so it won’t work for groups.
Limited variety in clue cards.

POV
What I love about A Little Wordy is how cute and playful it feels. The artwork is charming, the theme is light, and the game is friendly rather than overly competitive. Even when I lose (which happens often!), I enjoy guessing, laughing at silly words, and trying again. Since English isn’t my first language, it’s a fun way to practice vocabulary without the pressure of games like Scrabble. It can be a bit tricky at times, but that’s part of the charm. I’m learning while playing, and it never feels intimidating. It’s a small, cozy, modern game that I think you’ll really enjoy!

Until next time, happy gaming!
