Hi friends! Today I want to share with you something fun and different from your usual Minecraft adventures, Minecraft Explorers, a cooperative card game that lets you bring your favourite blocky world to the table in real life! This game was published in 2024 by Ravensburger in partnership with Minecraft and captures that iconic Minecraft feel with cards, exploration, monsters, and treasures. It’s easy to pick up, perfect for family or friends (and even great for kids), and it gives you that satisfying feeling of just one more turn as you explore new landscapes and hunt for hidden treasures together. Whether you’re a Minecraft veteran or new to the world of tabletop games, this one’s worth checking out!
Minecraft Explorers (2024)

Intro to the box and to the game
In Minecraft Explorers a card cooperative game that is up to four players or even solo you can team up to explore biomes, collect resources, fight monsters, and complete quests before time runs out. The box is small and easy to carry, but inside you’ll find explorer cards, resource cards, monster cards, and quest tokens, all with that familiar Minecraft look. Everything is colorful, fun, and makes you want to start playing right away. It seems simple at first, but as you plan your moves, decide which paths to take, and work together, you’ll see there’s plenty of strategy and challenge without ever feeling too complicated.
How to Play
Set up
- Shuffle the Landscape cards with the landscape side facing up and place five of them in the center of the table.
- Next, shuffle the Mob cards face down. Depending on the number of players.
- Then shuffle the Game Over card into the bottom part of the mob deck, you never know exactly when the game will end.
- Reveal the top mob card and place it next to the desk.
- Shuffle the Chest cards and lay out the number of chests you need based on the difficulty you choose.
- The player who most recently played Minecraft goes first.
On you turn, you use Hunger cards to take actions. These actions let you explore new landscape cards, fight mobs to earn trophies or place items into chests or fill landscapes. After your actions, you play a Night card and reveal a mob. If that mob is already in play, you keep revealing cards, which can quickly make things more dangerous.
Winning Fill all but one chest! For example, if you’re playing with seven chests, you must fully complete six of them. You can choose which chests to focus on and even change your plan during the game.
Losing Game Over card is turned face up!

Fun Points
- Quick setup and gameplay with lots of replayability.
- Easy to pick up and start playing, great for newcomers and even more fun if you’re a Minecraft fan.
- Colorful cards and small beautiful packaging that’s perfect to take anywhere.
- Very affordable!

Keep in Mind
- Not a very long or deep game, great for casual fun, hardcore strategy gamers may find it light.
- Some luck is involved in card draws, which can make certain rounds harder.
- Planning and teamwork are important, so it works best with players who like cooperating.

POV
I played Minecraft Explorers a few times with my husband. I’ve never played the video game, he has, and we both enjoyed the card game just as much. That says a lot. It’s a small game with a solid playthrough of up to about half an hour, where you talk, plan, and discuss strategy along the way. It’s lightweight but still satisfying, and it totally deserves a place in your collection.

Until next time, happy gaming!
